What is the cost of investment in a BJ’s Store?

Typically, circa £60,000 to £80,000 (excluding VAT) of which 50% should be liquid funds. The pricing can be above or below this range and it very much depends on the specific site in question

I don’t have the full capital. How do I fund my BJ’s Store Franchise?

You will usually need to have at least 50% of the required capital with the remaining 50% being funded via a third party such as a bank. Bank funding will vary, subject to status. We have very good relationships with the major High Street banks and our Franchise Consultant would advise you throughout the process.

What franchise and royalty fees do BJ’s Pizza charge?

The Licence fee is £16,000 + VAT. This grants the franchisee the right to use the BJ’s Pizza brand, operating system and its exclusive recipes for the products that it serves. In addition, there is a royalty fee of 10% + VAT. Fees are paid at the beginning of every month. You will also be responsible for the rent, rates and utility costs of the store for the term of the franchise agreement.

Do I have any other ongoing fees?

Apart from the Royalty Fees, there are no other ongoing fees.

How much does each store turnover?

Turnover will vary per store but based on our existing store and projections you can expect this to be between
£10,000 – £17,000 per week

How much profit will my store make?

Based on our projections we would expect you to show a pre-tax net profit in excess of 20%.

What do I get for my investment?

At the start of the franchise agreement there is an initial fee payable for each unit, this gives you the right to use the
BJ’s Pizza brand, its system for preparing, marketing and selling food products, its information, and other confidential
and proprietary information.
Included in the indicative total investment cost there is also allowance for management training as well as initial
marketing support. The start-up cost is comprising of the following: shop-fitting, fixtures & fitting, signage, external &
internal design, BJ’s Pizza Epos system, staff uniforms and equipment costs, which may vary depending on your site.

I would like to open a store in a specific area – is that possible?

We can talk to you more about specific areas at a later stage; please indicate on your application form which areas
you are most interested in

I have my own premises and would like to open a BJ’s Pizza there – is that ok?

We are always on the lookout for property with existing A5 consent (Hot Food Takeaway use). One of our acquisitions
team will be able to advise you on the suitability of your existing premises.

How long does it take from applying to opening a store?

If a suitable site is available and meets all the necessary requirements and you meet our relevant criteria; we expect
the store fit out and relevant checks to take no longer than 8 – 10 weeks.

Is previous catering or retailing experience necessary?

No. Our Management Training Programme (6 weeks) and our dedicated Franchise Business Manager will be with you
every step of the way to show you how to run and manage a BJ’s Pizza Store.

When can I expect a return on my initial investment?

Based on our projections, we would expect that you will see a return on your initial investment at around
12 to 18 months

How long is the training programme and where is it held?

You will receive 6 weeks fully intensive and comprehensive training on our Management Training Programme. Training will
take place at both our Leicester Head-Office and a ‘buddy store’ local to your home base.
You will receive extensive and continuous support from our dedicated Franchise Business Manager; plus, our Leicester
Head-Office will assist you with staff recruitment, marketing, product control, pricing and other operational areas.

What are the staff numbers and trading hours of an average store?

In an average new store 4 to 6 jobs are created, split between 40% full time and 60% part time. You can choose your Operating hours between 12pm to 10pm, Monday to Sunday, depending on your location, we are fairly flexible and can discuss this near to the time.

What are the chances of success with BJ’s Pizza?

We have a proven track record in our own store and our success has inspired us to invest in this new venture, with
a brand-new concept; authentic Italian spices combined with a traditional Asian twist to our pizzas. This unique
combination of tastes has been positively appreciated by consumers across the UK, especially within the vegetarian
and vegan communities. BJ’s Pizza is expanding rapidly and there is no better time to become part of our winning
team and run a successful franchise operation. Individual earnings are dependent on many factors, such as the
overheads and operating costs of the individual stores. We will continue to support and provide advice to prospective
franchisees in order to maximise your chances of success.

Can I go from single site operator to multi-site operators?

Yes, we will support our franchise partners to progress from being single site operator to becoming multi-site
operators. We have great incentives and package deals for multi-site operators. Please indicate on your application
form if your intention is to open multiple locations.

I am interested in developing a market outside of the UK – what should I do?

BJ’s Pizza has received interest from people wishing to take the brand as a master franchise to countries – USA,
Canada, India, Australia and other European countries. We are keen to expand our franchise globally. Interested
